BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The $170 million hockey-themed entertainment complex nearing completion in downtown Buffalo will be open for business soon.

Local media report that HarborCenter officials have scheduled a special opening ceremony for VIPs on Nov. 6, followed by the first public open house on the weekend of Nov. 8-9.

The first events in the facility will be college and youth hockey games slated for the weekend of Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.

The complex is located across from the First Niagara Center, where the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres play. The project is being developed by Sabres owners Terry and Kim Pegula, who became owners of the NFL’s Buffalo Bills last week.

HarborCenter includes two NHL-sized ice rinks and a five-level parking garage. A 205-room Marriott hotel being built at the site is expected to open next summer.
