A rally and march for D.C. voting rights scheduled for this weekend has been canceled due to Hurricane Irene.
The D.C. Full Democracy Freedom Rally and National Action Network March had been scheduled for Saturday.
Mayor Vincent Gray announced that the event would be canceled because the storm is expected to hit the Washington region this weekend.
Irene has also thwarted the dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, which had been scheduled for Sunday, but is now postponed until September or October.
