Ex-prison officer pleads guilty to taking bribe

ABINGDON, Va. (AP) — A former correctional officer has pleaded guilty to smuggling contraband into the federal prison in Lee County.

U.S. Attorney Timothy Heaphy says 43-year-old Kimberlee Crabtree of Jonesville faces up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty Thursday to accepting a bribe as a public official. Sentencing is set for May 27 in federal court in Abingdon.
