Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is beefing up his senior staff with two new appointments focused on tackling the issues of energy development on public lands, hires that are aimed at carrying out “the president’s priorities to put America first.”
Zinke said Aurelia Skipwith would be the new deputy assistant secretary for Fish, Wildlife and Parks, and Katharine MacGregor, a former senior staffer on the House Natural Resources Committee, would be deputy assistant secretary for Land and Minerals Management.
MacGregor, who once served as legislative director for then-Majority Leader Eric Cantor, will advise the agency on energy development and public land use. She was also a senior staff member on the Natural Resources Committee’s energy subcommittee.
“Skipwith will assist in the development and implementation of the administration’s policy objectives on matters relating to our public lands and wildlife,” the agency said.
Zinke said he was “excited to appoint two women of extremely high caliber to help lead the department of the Interior into the next century of service for the American people.”
