CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — Suffolk County police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Central Islip.
The accident happened at about 9:25 p.m. Sunday.
Police say a man was crossing Carleton Avenue when he was struck by a northbound car that fled the scene.
The victim was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. He is being treated for head injuries and is in serious condition.
The man’s identity has not been determined.
