A prominent conservative radio host went on a fiery tweetstorm against Donald Trump and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Thursday, calling them “dumbasses” for continuing to deride a former Miss Universe winner over her weight.
“I’ve been all over the conservative movement. I’ve never heard people talk about women [the] way Newt & Trump talked about [Alicia] Machado,” tweeted Steve Deace, a steadfast critic of Trump based in Iowa.

Deace was referring to the pageant queen winner who Hillary Clinton mentioned in Monday’s presidential debate. The Venezuelan beauty alleges that Trump called her “Miss Piggy” and mocked her for gaining weight soon after she became Miss Universe in 1996.
“Machado an obvious political play by the Left,” Deace argued, while accusing Trump and other Republicans of being “mind-numbingly” dumb for even responding to Machado’s allegations.
“It’s not even that they’re sellouts to conservatism,” he tweeted. “Sellouts can be smart. These people are just dumb.” Deace continued, claiming that having daughters of his own has made him “pretty self-aware” about the body image issues many women face.
Trump and Newt both have daughters, too. How they didn’t see this coming a mile away and run far away beyond me.

Deace, who was once forced to apologize for accusing ex-White House hopeful Carly Fiorina of going “full vagina” during a GOP primary debate, had previously distanced himself from the Republican Party earlier this year in protest of Trump’s nomination.
“I will not belong to something that has, whose character has sunk so low that it could nominate a man like Donald Trump as its standard-bearer,” he said on his program in May.
