Second suspect charged in fatal shooting of 7-year-old in Chicago McDonald’s drive thru

A second suspect has been arrested in connection to the death of a 7-year-old who was shot and killed while she was with her father in a Chicago-area McDonald’s drive-thru, authorities said.

Demond Goudy, 21, was charged with first-degree murder on Tuesday, according to the Washington Post. He and Marion Lewis, 18, have been charged for their alleged role in the shooting deaths of Jaslyn Adams, 7, and the shooting of her father, Jontae Adams, on April 18.

Goudy was arrested on Monday on Chicago’s West Side when he surrendered to SWAT officers outside his residence. He is expected to appear for a hearing in Cook County Circuit Court on Wednesday.

Lewis was arrested last Thursday, although he tried evading officers until he crashed his vehicle. After crashing on the shoulder of I-290, Lewis got out of his car and tried to carjack a vehicle with a family in it, which is when officers shot him. Police said he’s expected to survive.

The two were in a McDonald’s drive-thru on Sunday afternoon when two people got out of a gray vehicle and opened fire in their direction, Cook County prosecutors said. Police said they believe the shooting was gang-related and think it’s connected to another Sunday shooting, at a Popeyes drive-thru window.

Both of the victims in the second shooting, a 33-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, were shot.
