For the second consecutive year, The Inn at Peralynna Manor, located in Columbia, has been selected as the “Best Overall Bed and Breakfast/Inn in North America 2006” for the second consecutive year by Arrington?s Inn Traveler Magazine.
Peralynna Manor is a European-style luxury hotel that features 20 individually designed suites, including Deluxe Spa, English Garden and Romance Suites. Though the hotel boasts a historic feel, it was designed and built in the mid-1990s by owners Cynthia and David Lynn.
Trish Budd, said that the hotel won because it is “very unique, we provide an ambiance that you don’t get at a normal hotel.”
Budd, the public relations manager, says the atmosphere is a “luxurious home away from home.” The hotel caters to two different types of clientele with most of the weekday business coming from business travelers, whereas the weekends are more for romantic getaways.
All the attention to detail has become noticed by guests, the hotel has an average 63 percent customer repeat rate and often finds itself at 95 percent occupancy. Budd said that the hotel has many repeat customers because of the treatment they receive as guests of the hotel
“All guests are treated like royalty,” Budd said. “We provide whatever they need and go beyond the typical bed and breakfast”
Within the last year, the hotel underwent a $2 million expansion and renovation that added 10new suites.
“We want people to come in and feel like they are getting away from it all,” Budd said. To accomplish that the hotel is constantly looking at what they can do to improve the atmosphere for its guests, including updating the décor and menu items.
Despite the luxurious atmosphere, Budd said, “we are not stuffy.”
Peralynna Manor took the top spot out of more than 33,000 hotels considered by the magazine. In addition to a repeated to ranking, in 2004 the hotel was named “Best Inn in USA” by the magazine. Voting is done by guest surveys at all the hotels.
