Lockheed Martin was the top business partner of the U.S. government in fiscal 2015, earning more than 8 percent of all federal dollars spent, according to a report.
The government report, which named the top 100 contractors for fiscal 2015, found that Lockheed Martin was also the No. 1 contractor for each of the services and U.S. Special Operations Command.
The federal government obligated more than $36 billion to Lockheed Martin contracts in fiscal 2015, earning it the top spot and more than 8 percent of all federal spending. Boeing was in the No. 2 spot, with about 4 percent of all spending. General Dynamics, Raytheon and Northrop Grumman rounded out the top five.
Together, more than $90 billion was obligated to the defense giants in fiscal 2015.
For the Navy, Lockheed builds the F-35C carrier variant of the joint strike fighter and one of two variants of the littoral combat ship. Lockheed was obligated $15 billion in 2015, representing about 18 percent of the sea service’s total spending, and nearly double the 9.5 percent of spending obligated to General Dynamics in the No. 2 spot.
Lockheed was also the top contractor for the Army, which uses the company’s High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, and the Air Force, which obligated more than $7 billion, or almost 14 percent of its total dollars, to the contractor.
