Due to the state the planet is in, singer Miley Cyrus vowed not to have children until the issue of climate change is solved.
Cyrus agreed during her interview with Elle that the annual wildfires that occur in the Los Angeles area put things into perspective about how humans have been treating nature badly.
“And nature’s female. When she’s angry, don’t f— with her. That’s the way that I feel women are like right now. The earth is angry,” she said.
“We’ve been doing the same thing to the earth that we do to women. We just take and take and expect it to keep producing. And it’s exhausted. It can’t produce. We’re getting handed a piece-of-shit planet, and I refuse to hand that down to my child,” Cyrus added. “Until I feel like my kid would live on an earth with fish in the water, I’m not bringing in another person to deal with that.”
She said the feeling of not wanting to have children because of the state of the Earth is a common sentiment among millennials “because we know that the earth can’t handle it.”
During her appearance at the Tinderbox musical festival in June, Cyrus gave a profanity-laden speech against climate change.
“The youth, this generation, we are the last f—ing hope on this dying f—ing planet. … I don’t like there’s more f—ing trash in the water than living f—ing animals that deserve to be there, that have nowhere else to go,” she said. “And by the f—ing way, we don’t have anywhere to f—ing go, either! There’s no planet B, so don’t f— it up!”
The former Hannah Montana actress has been outspoken on political issues, such as her recent partnership with Planned Parenthood. To raise money for the organization, she is selling hoodies that read “Don’t f— with my freedom” for $175.
