President Trump and Tiffany Trump are reportedly working through a strained relationship which has escalated since he assumed the Oval Office.
“They always had a strained relationship her whole life, and it got exacerbated by the presidency,” a source told PEOPLE Magazine. “It’s gotten much worse now.”
Tiffany Trump, the president’s only child with ex-wife Marla Maples, previously told the outlet that she grew up in California with Maples, but would travel to New York a few times a year to spend some time with her dad. However, sources said that since he took office, the relationship has hit an all-time low.
“Since the inauguration, Tiffany and her father have sometimes gone for months without speaking and she went a very long time without seeing him,” the source said. “The last time she was at a family function with him, it was awkward for her and she didn’t feel totally welcome.”
Despite the report, Tiffany Trump has made rare appearances at public events with her father in recent days.
She was seen on the road with her father and siblings on a trip to Ohio for an infrastructure speech, a trip to Mar-a-Lago for Easter weekend, and back to the White House for the annual Easter egg roll. Unlike her older siblings, Tiffany has largely shunned the political spotlight.
The White House did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on the status of their relationship.
