Wanted man found at home

A man wanted on an open warrant in Baltimore City since August who was suspected of shooting at a Baltimore County police officer Monday morning, then eluding a SWAT team that had surrounded a nearby house he was seen sneaking into was finally taken into custody ? when he returned to the house later that evening, police said.

Joshua Whitney Bullock, 20, of the 300 block of S. Monroe St.in Baltimore, has been sought by Baltimore City police since Aug. 7 on a charge of felony theft, court records show. There are about 44,000 unserved warrants in Baltimore, according to city police.

Bullock shot at a Baltimore County officer with a handgun Monday morning ? prompting a SWAT team hunt, Baltimore County police said.

At 4:46 a.m. a police officer responded to a call for destruction of property in progress along Hedgewood Road in the Timonium area.

As he arrived, the officer encountered two male suspects, according to Baltimore County police spokesman Cpl. Mike Hill.

When the officer attempted to talk to the suspects, Bullock turned around and fired a handgun at the officer, missing him, police said. The officer returned fire ? and Bullock ran off, police said.

The other suspect remained at the scene and was arrested by the officer. His name has not been released.

After the officer returned to his vehicle, he continued searching for Bullock, and saw the man enter a nearby house on Caven Drive, Hill said.

Baltimore County police surrounded the house and, after trying to contact the man, used a SWAT team to break into the house at 8:50 a.m. ? only to find it empty.

But police said Bullock returned to the house at 7 p.m., where he was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder. That charge carries a penalty of life in prison.

He has previously been convicted of drug possession in Baltimore City.
