A Colorado sheriff’s deputy was killed Monday night, making it the third time in five weeks that a deputy from the state has died in the line of duty.
El Paso County Deputy Micah Flick, 34, was killed while investigating a stolen vehicle report, but officials have not shared details about the incident.
Two other deputies, a Colorado Springs police officer, and witness were also wounded. Authorities said the suspect was killed, according to a report.
Monday had marked Flick’s 11-year anniversary with the force. The deputy is survived by his wife and 7-year-old twins.

The incident comes on the heels of two other recent deaths of state officers.
Adams County Deputy Heath Gumm was killed on Jan. 24 and Douglas County Deputy Zakari Parrish was killed Dec. 31.
“We will once more come together to provide sympathy and strength for the deputy’s loved ones and pray for the recovery of those injured,” Gov. John Hickenlooper, R-Colo., said in a statement. “However, we also must come together and say enough is enough. We want each officer, every deputy, to know we are grateful for their service.”
