A sophomore U.S. Naval Academy midshipman alleges that a drunken classmate came into her room and forcibly raped her.
Second-class Midshipman Mark Calvanico is accused of rape, giving a false statement, being drunk and disorderly and conduct unbecoming of an officer.
The testimony was given before an investigative officer who will make a recommendation to Vice Adm. Jeffrey Fowler, the academy?s superintendent.
Fowler will decide whether to move forward with a court-martial.
The female midshipman said Calvanico came to her room in Bancroft Hall several times on Oct. 13, and on the last visit climbed into bed, held her down and raped her.
The midshipman said she and Calvanico were friendly and hinting at a formal relationship. She said Calvanico was drunk when he came to her room that night and never invited him to bed.
She said she told Calvanico several times to stop, but alleged that he threatened to rape her roommate, who was sleeping less than 10 feet away.
Her roommate said prior to the alleged incident the two were talking about their relationship.
