PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. (AP) — Police have identified the body of a man who was killed in an explosion and fire in a Long Island garage.

Nassau County police said Wednesday that the man killed in the Aug. 5 blast in Port Washington was 48-year-old Michael MacNeill.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute at the home shortly before the explosion.

MacNeill’s body was found in the debris.

Authorities said arriving officers smelled gas fumes. A detached garage exploded and burst into flames after they led a woman and a 2-year-old girl to safety.

Four firefighters and a police officer suffered minor injuries.
