Man sentenced to 27 months for immigration scam

A federal judge sentenced a Manassas man Thursday to 27 months in prison for submitting fraudulent documents to federal authorities to get his clients unwarranted green cards. Fredy Lopez, of El Salvador, also offered to forfeit $275,000 gained by his company, Lopez Enterprises of Manassas. Former Lopez employee Maria “Jackie” Grimaldi received a five-month sentence Thursday, and three other employees pleaded guilty in the fall. – Dan Genz

3 charged with ’06 slaying in Prince William

Prince William County police arrested two men and are searching for another after an unrelated police investigation led to new information in a nearly two-year-old drug-related homicide, police said Thursday.

Rodolfo Reyes Hernandez, 24, was killed March 15, 2006, in Manassas after a drug deal went awry, said Officer Erika Hernandez, a police spokeswoman. “They gave him fake drugs, he confronted them and that’s when they shot him,” she said.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force charged Edward Louis Hogan, 23, of Manassas, and a Manassas Park teen who was 17 at the time of the shooting, with homicide Wednesday. Authorities are still searching for Jarrell Scott, 22, police said. – Dan Genz

Man shot in Washington alley

D.C. police are investigating a fatal daylight shooting of a man in Northeast Washington on Thursday. Police said the man was shot in the alley behind 309 35th St. NE around 11 a.m. Police had not identified the victim by Thursday afternoon. Police ask anyone with information about this case to call 202-727-9099. The department offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to a conviction. – Scott McCabe

Restaurant workers targeted

Two male suspects have targeted Asian-restaurant employees in seven armed robberies concentrated in Suitland and Capitol Heights, according to Prince George’s County police, who areurging restaurant workers to be cautious. In each incident, Asian-restaurant owners were robbed on their drive home from work. In two of the robberies, the suspect shot the victims, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
