At a campaign event in Florida today, President Obama joked that he’s considering former president Bill Clinton for “secretary of explaining stuff.” The apparent compliment comes days after Clinton’s well received performance at the Democratic convention in Charlotte.
“Now, we just had our convention in Charlotte, North Carolina,” said Obama, turning to the convention. “Folks there could not have been more welcoming. Michelle — what can I say? (Applause.) As the other men in the audience know, our main goal when we marry is to improve our gene pool. (Laughter.) That’s why my daughters turned out good. (Laughter.) Because you just — you marry up and you marry somebody superior to yourself. And you just — you beg them until they marry you. (Laughter.) Persistence is the key.”
