Trump dealing with Democrats because Republicans lack a ‘governing majority’

Rep. Dave Trott, R-Mich., said Thursday that Republicans are being forced to deal with Democratic demands — and even Democratic deals with President Trump — because Republicans don’t have enough votes themselves to dictate federal policy.

Trott, who is retiring at the end of the current Congress, said even though Republican majorities, in theory, give them control of the House and Senate, the GOP is split, which is why Democrats are able to have a big impact.
