Report: Trump offered to make Kasich ‘most powerful’ VP

The Donald Trump campaign reached out to John Kasich’s people in May offering to make him “most powerful vice president” in history.

According to a report in the New York Times published Wednesday, Donald Trump Jr. — Trump’s son — asked a Kasich adviser if his boss would want to be in charge of domestic and foreign policy as vice president.

When the Kasich adviser asked Trump Jr. what Trump would then be in charge of, he replied, “Making America great again.”

Trump eventually chose Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, not Kasich, to be his running mate.

Kasich, who ended his own presidential campaign in May, has refused to endorse Trump. He won’t be at this week’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland either, amid calls to show party unity.
