Fairfax police nab robbery suspect
Fairfax County police have arrested a 19-year-old Herndon man in connection with a Friday morning robbery of a Sunoco gas station. Authorities caught up with Alexander W. Clark in a nearby park shortly after the crime took place on Franklin Farm Road, according to a police department statement. The search involved a helicopter, infrared camera and K9 units.
Clark is charged with robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and grand larceny. –William C. Flook
Man charged with killing girlfriend in Rockville
Police in Montgomery County have charged 49-year-old Vincent Castiglione with a weekend fatal shooting in Rockville. According to a police report, Castiglione was the boyfriend of homicide victim Laquito Watkins, 43, of the 4900 block of Cloister Drive.
Police said the two had been drinking and were fighting on Saturday morning when Castiglione shot Watkins to death. He is being held without bail at the Montgomery County Detention Center. – Dena Levitz
Prince George’s police investigate fatal shooting
Prince George’s County police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning. About 4 a.m. Sunday, police found 26-year-old Dennis Wlliam Poe Jr. of the 1100 block of Hamlin Road suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Poe was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, police report.
Investigators are working to develop a motive and suspect information. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s homicide unit at 301-772-4925.
