COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Gov. John Hickenlooper says Colorado Springs needs to attract more young people if community leaders want their economy to grow.
In an interview with the Colorado Springs Gazette (http://tinyurl.com/b9ef3zd ) on Thursday, the governor said Fort Collins and Durango have invested in bike paths and things that are more youth-oriented. He says new economies are based on attracting young people.

The governor says he believes Colorado Springs isn’t getting its share of the 25- to 34-year-old crowd that has been migrating in droves to Colorado. He says that may be why the local unemployment rate is stagnant at about 9 percent, while the state’s rate got down to 7.8 percent in November.
