Alex Jones slams ‘grossly inaccurate’ reporting on custody battle

Infowars’ Alex Jones condemned the “grossly inaccurate media reports” that came out Thursday evening after a jury awarded his ex-wife joint custody of their three children.

In a statement and press conference Friday outside of the Austin court house where the legal battle took place, Jones said contrary to what the headlines would have readers believe, he did not lose custody of his children, ages 9, 12 and 14.

“My ex-wife and I agreed 2 years ago at the time of our divorce to be joint-managing conservators of our 3 awesome children,” Jones’ statement read.

He said that his ex-wife, Kelly Jones, then went to trial asking to become the sole managing conservator of their kids and limit him to supervised access. “The jury resoundingly rejected her request for sole custody and left us at the same place where we began this horrible journey,” the statement said.

A Travis County, Texas, jury looking at his case was comprised of 12 jurors. Ten agreed with the verdict that gave Kelly Jones joint custody and the right to choose to have the children live with her. The exact visitation plan has yet to be ironed out.

During the tense legal battle, she described Alex Jones as a “violent, cruel and abusive man” who is “enraged and out of control most of the time,” according to the Austin-American Statesman.

As host of Infowars, Alex Jones has perpetuated such conspiracy theories as “Pizzagate,” which ties Hillary Clinton to a child sex ring, and consistently condemns the mainstream media.

In a somewhat ironic turn of events, last week Jones urged the media to be “respectful and responsible” during the trial.

Jones’ attorney Randall Wilhite said he is “a performance artist” and during the trial, Alex Jones’ legal team tried to convey Kelly Jones as being emotionally unstable.

Also this week, Jones was sued by Greek Yogurt producer Chobani for suggesting the company was complicit in sexual assault involving children.
