HOUSTON (AP) — A Houston firefighter has died after his team lost contact with him while fighting a house fire.

A Houston Fire Department statement identified the dead firefighter as 46-year-old Daniel Groover, a 21-year veteran of the department

Bryan Sky Eagle, president of the Houston Professional Firefighters Association, said Groover was inside the burning house fighting the flames when he lost radio contact. A search team entered the burning house, found Groover down and removed him, but mouth and throat burns made it difficult to intubate him to administer oxygen.
