Trump accepts prime minister’s invitation to visit Japan

President Trump has accepted Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s invitation to visit Japan, the White House said Friday.

“Prime Minister Abe invited President Trump for an official visit to Japan during the course of this year, and also welcomed an early visit of Vice President Pence to Tokyo,” read a joint statement from both leaders released by the White House on Friday. “President Trump accepted these invitations.”

The release didn’t say specifically when the visit would occur.

Abe and Trump met at the White House on Friday and held a press conference together.
