A former George Washington University professor was sentenced to nearly four years in prison for possession of more than 100,000 images of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen announced.
Diego Fasolini, 43, was a part-time Italian lecturer at the school when he brought his external hard drive to the university’s technology services office for a technical problem. An employee there backed up Fasolini’s files and found an image of a young girl being forced to have sex, the documents say.
This is not the first time Fasolini has had a run-in with university police.
About 10 years ago, as a 32-year-old graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Fasolini was charged with stealing a wallet from the school library and using an automated teller machine to steal $1,500. He pleaded guilty and completed a program for first-time offenders — the charges were then dropped.
