Donald Trump welcomed the Supreme Court’s split decision on Thursday that effectively stops President Obama from letting millions of illegal immigrants stay in the country and work.
“Today’s 4-4 Supreme Court ruling has blocked one of the most unconstitutional actions ever undertaken by a president,” said Trump, who’s been a leading critic of the Obama administration’s relaxed immigration policies.

“This split decision also makes clear what is at stake in November,” he added. “The election, and the Supreme Court appointments that come with it will decide whether or not we have a border and, hence, a country.”
The executive actions taken by Obama in 2014 sought to allow millions of immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally stay in the country on a temporary basis without fear of deportation.
Trump had previously promised to reverse the order, among other executive actions, if elected president. Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has said she would take the plan even further.
“Clinton has pledged to expand Obama’s executive amnesty, hurting poor African-American and Hispanic workers by giving away their jobs and federal resources to illegal immigrant labor — while making us all less safe,” Trump said.
