DNC launches new ad campaign mocking Trump’s ‘Infrastructure Week’ declarations

EXCLUSIVE — The Democratic National Committee is launching a new advertising campaign mocking former President Donald Trump’s failed attempts to usher a large-scale infrastructure investment through Congress.

The campaign’s launch video opens with statements then-candidate Trump made on the 2016 campaign trail promising a nationwide infrastructure overhaul and was released on the four-year anniversary of the unveiling of Trump’s $1.5 trillion infrastructure proposal. That legislation, released shortly after Trump’s first State of the Union address, was quickly overshadowed by the resignation of former White House staff secretary Rob Porter, who had been accused of physical abuse by two of his ex-wives, and Trump’s repeated “Infrastructure Week” declarations began to be treated as somewhat of a joke.

The DNC’s video also includes comments President Joe Biden’s predecessor made on the nearly dozen other times he sought to garner support for such a bill and closes with a news report touting the recent passage of Biden’s own $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure law.

“We’ve heard countless speeches and promises, white papers from experts, but today we’re finally getting this done,” Biden says in the clip. “America’s moving again, and your life is going to change for the better.”

“It only took four years and electing Joe Biden as president to finally deliver what Donald Trump never could,” DNC spokeswoman Adonna Biel said in a statement. “While Donald Trump broke repeated promises, President Biden rolled up his sleeves, brought Republicans and Democrats together, and delivered funding to fix our roads, repair our bridges, deliver clean water, and create thousands of good-paying jobs.”

“Local communities are already seeing the impact of President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law as millions of dollars roll in to revitalize our nation’s infrastructure and put us on the path to win the competition for the 21st century,” she continued.
