Brush fire burns 50 acres on Kent Island

STEVENSVILLE, Md. (AP) — Firefighters are battling a brush fire on Kent Island that went to seven alarms at its peak.

Queen Anne’s County Emergency Services Chief Kevin Aftung says 50 acres of forest were burned by the fire. He said Sunday afternoon that it was about 90 percent contained, but it wasn’t expected to be fully extinguished until Monday.
