NEW YORK (AP) — Hours before Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Rockettes were set to usher in the new year, Times Square was teeming Monday with revelers wearing plastic “2013” glasses and snapping photos.

An estimated 1 million people were expected to cram into the neon-lit district to see the crystal ball drop and countdown to 2013, organizers said.
