WOODSTOCK, Ill. (AP) — McHenry County authorities say an autopsy has determined a suburban Chicago woman found dead in her home Monday night was murdered.

Police officers found the body of 48-year-old Karen M. Scavelli in the bedroom of her Island Lake home during a wellness check.

The Daily Herald in Arlington Heights reports (http://bit.ly/1kMriRd) McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski announced Wednesday that Scavelli suffered blunt force trauma. However, Majewski didn’t offer additional information.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Aimee Knop says a man arrested Tuesday after crashing Scavelli’s car into a Mundelein house is a person of interest in the case.

The 49-year-old McHenry man, who police haven’t named, is hospitalized at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Mundelein Police Chief Eric Guenther says no charges have been filed in the case.
