Keep an Eye on This Ardolino Fellow in Iraq

Bill Ardolino, that is. He’s the blogger who is embedded with a Marine unit in Fallujah, Iraq. He’s “over there” to get the truth about what’s going on, from the perspective of the ground-pounders and others who are closest to the action. Bill will be filing an exclusive series of dispatches to the Examiner, the first of which is in today’s Examiner. It tells of the tremendous work of a couple of Navy Corpsmen as they treat wounded Iraqis, including an Iraqi Policeman within moments after he took a sniper bullet through the lower abdomen. Bill also has apost up on his normal blog home, InDC, that includes a photo of him with a couple of tough civilian hombres from the states. I wonder if those are Iraqi cigars? No matter what you think about the war in Iraq now or before, there can be no doubt that America has the finest military in the world, and quite likely the best in history. Every American should be proud of the men and women in the U.S. military because they represent the best of this country and its ideals. I am confident Bill’s dispatches will provide abundant evidence to support this conclusion. It should never be forgotten that America is the only country ever to enjoy a nuclear monopoly and it came at a time when our military was at its largest-ever force levels after defeating the Germans and Japanese in WWII. America could easily have imposed its will on anybody we chose. But instead we rebuilt our former enemies, spending billions in the process, and took the lead in forming the United Nations.
