A Germantown woman has died afer being struck by her own car in her driveway.
Montgomery County police said 48-year-old Gloria Maria Vergara Mansilla stopped her SUV, a 2009 Mercedes ML 350, near the end of her driveway on Cog Wheel Way shortly after 5:30 p.m. Friday.
She walked to the rear cargo area of the vehicle while the car was still in drive. Police said the vehicle began to travel backward when Mansilla opened the rear door.
She was transported by ambulance to Shady Grove Hospital, then later taken by helicopter to Washington Hospital Center, where she died.
