“This is a totalitarian communist dictator in the same vein as Hitler,” McCain said of Kim.
“We are not the same,” McCain added. “[The North Korean regime] is completely and utterly the closest thing to Hitler’s Germany that exists in modern time.”
The remarks came after “The View” co-host voiced her objections to the American flag and North Korean flag hanging side-by-side during the meetings.
“I had a really big problem — you guys know how I feel about the flag — the American flag and the North Korean flag sit next each other at the backdrop,” McCain said.
Trump and Kim met in Singapore where they later signed a joint statement in which Kim pledged to rid his country of its nuclear weapons.
“I was a proponent of taking the meeting, because I am always a proponent of going and meeting with your adversaries,” McCain said Tuesday. “My problem was how far it went with the like sort of buddy buddy.”
After their initial meet and greet on Tuesday, Trump touted his “terrific relationship” with the North Korean leader
“I feel great. … We will have a terrific relationship moving forward,” Trump told reporters.
