The driver of a recycling and trash truck was killed Wednesday morning after his vehicle struck a curb and flipped over in western Ellicott City, according to Howard County police.
This is the county?s seventh fatal crash since the beginning of the year, said police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn. As a result of those crashes, eight people have died.
The truck driver, Alan David Carr, 41, of Baltimore, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries, said police.
The accident occurred at 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of Buckskin Lake Drive and Folly Quarter Road.
Carr?s passenger, Humberto Ramon-Yanez, 35, of Hyattsville, was not injured.
Police said Carr?s truck hit a curb, traveled down a hill and flipped on its side, resulting in Carr being pinned under the vehicle.
Llewellyn said police are still investigating what caused the accident.
Carr was employed by J&J Trash Services which has offices in Howard, Montgomery and Frederick, said Kim Cavall, the company?s secretary.
