MSNBC correspondent Hallie Jackson asked White House deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders on Thursday how she would explain to her children President Trump’s decision to attack a morning show host over Twitter.
During Thursday morning’s press briefing, Sanders defended Trump’s tweet that morning that described MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski of “bleeding badly from a face-lift” at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
“He’s been very clear that when he gets attacked, he’s going to hit back,” Sanders said, adding that she had also been personally insulted by Brzezinski and her co-host Joe Scarborough.
Jackson then asked Sanders, “Are you going to tell your kids this behavior is okay?”
Sanders answered by referring to her religious faith.
“Look, I’ve been asked before when it comes to role models,” she said. “As a person of faith, I think we all have one perfect role model and when I’m asked that question I point to God. I point to my faith. And that’s where I would tell my kids to look. Look, None of us are perfect and certainly there’s only one that is and that’s where I would point that direction.”
