‘West Wing’ star Allison Janney returns to White House podium

Allison Janney, who played C.J. Cregg on the “West Wing,” momentarily reprised her TV role as presidential secretary on Friday by taking the podium during the daily briefing from actual press secretary, Josh Earnest.

Janney briefly took the helm to plug her pet cause that has also become a focus of the Obama administration, opioid abuse.

Currently she stars in the CBS sitcom, “Mom,” which she said has explored the issue. It’s an important cause to the show’s producer, Chuck Lorre, who was also on hand.

Both Hollywood stars were on hand for the White House’s “champions of change” event, which focused on substance abuse.
