Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called for a special counsel to investigate President Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents.
In an appearance on Fox News, Graham called on Attorney General Merrick Garland to appoint a special counsel. He said failing to do so would “hurt the country.”

“If there’s not a special counsel appointed to find out how this happened, with President Biden regarding classified information, there is gonna be a lot of anger. It will hurt the country,” Graham said.
“Garland, if you’re listening, if you thought it was necessary, attorney general, to appoint a special counsel regarding President Trump, then you need to do the exact same thing regarding President Biden when it comes to handling classified information,” he added.

In a preliminary step to determine if further investigation is necessary, Garland has appointed a U.S. attorney to investigate the handling of the documents, CBS News reported.

A trove of classified documents from the time of the Obama administration was discovered at a Biden think tank. Its discovery raised questions as to how the documents ended up there. The president has said he is unaware of what the documents were or how they got there.
Republicans have put forward accusations of double standards over the finding given the harsh reaction to former President Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents.
