Los Angeles Rams fans and Angelenos took to the streets on Sunday to celebrate their team’s 23-20 Super Bowl LVI victory and quickly turned violent and destructive.
“We are seeing violent and destructive behavior by large crowds in the heart of the Downtown LA area. We have issued several dispersal orders and have a large police presence,” according to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department.
At least one person was hospitalized after being shot in an area where fans were celebrating.

The incident occurred at about 8:50 p.m. when the unidentified individual approached authorities for assistance, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Deputy Tracy Koerner said.

Footage posted to social media also showed widespread chaos and disorder.

Fans could be seen jumping on cars, shaking vehicles, shooting off fireworks, and defacing public property.

At least six people could be seen looting a jewelry store with fireworks exploding in the background in a separate video posted to Twitter.

Police were forced to order all individuals participating in festivities to disperse at about 9 p.m., and multiple offramps leading to the interstate were closed, according to a report.

“Everyone that is part of those crowds, obey all dispersal orders and clear the streets immediately,” the LAPD tweeted.
