Protesters shout ‘shame’ as Ivanka Trump visits New York school

Demonstrators congregated outside a school in Syracuse, N.Y., Monday afternoon where President Trump’s daughter and White House adviser Ivanka Trump attended a roundtable discussion on education and workforce development programs.

The protesters chanted “shame” and “what about the children” outside Central High School, according to Syracuse.com, to protest the Trump administration’s zero tolerance immigration policy.

Rep. John Katko, R-N.Y., who was at the discussion, also was the subject of protesters’ outrage. Protesters held signs reading “shame on Katko” and accused him of being complicit with Trump administration policies, despite Katko’s criticism of the administration’s policy that separated migrant children from their parents at the border, the news outlet reported.

Katko’s Democratic opponent in the race for New York’s 24th Congressional District, Dana Balter, joined the demonstrators.
