President Trump condemned the “totally unhinged” media for publishing stories that cite anonymous sources, and also argued the White House was functioning with ease.

“The Fake News is going crazy making up false stories and using only unnamed sources (who don’t exist),” Trump tweeted Monday night. “They are totally unhinged, and the great success of this Administration is making them do and say things that even they can’t believe they are saying. Truly bad people!”

The tweet comes following a report from NBC News that cited former and current White House officials, some of whom said White House chief of staff John Kelly viewed himself as America’s savior and called Trump an “idiot.”

Kelly, who was hired by the White House last summer to replace former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, said he and Trump “both know this story is total BS.”

Moments after the initial tweet, Trump said the White House is operating efficiently and is achieving much, despite “phony Witch Hunts” and the like.

“The White House is running very smoothly despite phony Witch Hunts etc. There is great Energy and unending Stamina, both necessary to get things done,” Trump tweeted. “We are accomplishing the unthinkable and setting positive records while doing so! Fake News is going ‘bonkers!’”

Trump, whose presidency has been marked by an ongoing Russia probe, has frequently called special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation to determine if his campaign colluded with the Kremlin a “witch hunt.”
