DERWOOD, Md. (AP) — An early morning apartment fire has injured two people in Montgomery County.
Authorities say the fire broke out around 1 a.m. Tuesday on the ground level of an apartment complex in the Derwood area.
Montgomery County fire spokesman Pete Piringer says one man around 60 years old suffered smoke inhalation and may have life-threatening injuries. Another man in his mid-50s suffered chest pains but is expected to be OK.
Piringer says most of the fire was extinguished within a half-hour. The Red Cross is helping 12 families displaced by the fire.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused the blaze.
