House GOP tax plan gets backing from airlines, semiconductor makers

Industry groups representing airlines and semiconductor manufacturers endorsed the House Republican tax plan Tuesday, providing House Speaker Paul Ryan with new allies in a battle that has pitted industry against industry and Republican against Republican.

Both industries are major exporters, meaning that they could benefit under Ryan’s plan to adjust taxes at the border. That policy entails risks for importers like the retailer Walmart, who have lobbied hard to stop the reform.
