Wednesday marks the 18th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks which killed almost 3,000 people. The ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum honors those who lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, as well those who died in the hijacking of Flight 93. The attacks were the largest act of terrorism on American soil.
