MEXICO, N.Y. (AP) — A search team continues to look for remains of 1994 kidnapping victim Heidi Allen in Oswego County woods.
Allen was last seen in early April 1994 working at a convenience store in the town of New Haven. Her body was never found, but a jury convicted Gary Thibodeau of kidnapping her. He’s serving 25 years to life in prison. A federal public defender is seeking to overturn his 1995 conviction.
An Oswego County Sheriff’s deputy tells the Syracuse Post-Standard Sunday that there was no timetable for completing the search (http://bit.ly/1znDiRn ). The sheriff’s office said about 40 people searched hundreds of wooded acres in the town of Mexico Saturday without finding any evidence.
Witnesses told investigators that another man confessed to killing Allen and hiding her body in that area.
