Hearing postponed in Lululemon slaying

A court hearing for the woman accused of killing her co-worker at an upscale yoga retail store in Bethesda has been postponed.

Brittany Norwood, 28, was supposed to have faced a preliminary hearing Friday on a first-degree murder charge in the death of 30-year-old Jayna Murray. Police say Norwood killed Murray during a brutal fight at the Lululemon Athletica store on March 11, crushing Murray’s skull and severing her spinal cord.

The Associated Press reports that the defense waived Friday’s hearing, and a new court date is scheduled for May 12.

According to prosecutors, Norwood pretended that she was also a victim when police found the pair in the story. Norwood had been bound, and told authorities that she had been sexually assaulted.

Lululemon said this week that it plans to eventually reopen the store, located at 4856 Bethesda Ave.
