Donald Trump said he no longer cares that the GOP primary was “rigged” because it made him the presidential nominee.
In West Virginia, Trump held his first rally after becoming the party’s presumptive nominee and took the stage to “Take Me Home Country Roads,” the theme song of West Virginia University. He appeared jubilant and told the audience to “save your vote for the general election in November” and don’t bother voting in the primary.
“You’ve been hearing me say it’s a rigged system, but now I don’t say it anymore because I won. It’s true. Now I don’t care. I don’t care,” Tump said. “And the only way I won was I won by such big margins because it is a rigged system. But the only way you can do it, it’s like a boxer, you got to knock them out then you don’t got to worry about the judges. But it’s true.”
Trump continued to talk about a number of different subjects, including earning former Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight’s endorsement, the fact that his hair was real, and that his decision to run for president was “not something that I really wanted to do.”
Trump will campaign in Nebraska and Oregon on Friday.
