Clinton draws cheers for debate victory lap at rally

Hillary Clinton gloated a bit during a campaign rally in Raleigh, N.C., Tuesday as she took a victory lap for her performance at the first presidential debate, prompting a round of cheers and applause from supporters.

“Last night I got a chance,” she began to say before deafening applause cut her off, “I got a chance to say a few things about what I want to do if I’m so fortunate enough to be elected as your president.”

“And you know, I do have this old fashioned idea that if I’m asking for your vote I should tell you what I want to do,” she added to cheers and laughs.

Focus groups at CNN and Fox News ruled overwhelmingly after the first debate, which was held at Hofstra University in New York, that Trump had a bad evening against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. The groups also declared Clinton the clear winner of their election showdown. Trump polled especially poorly when respondents were asked to grade him on his presentation of his policy platform.
