Rep. Steve Scalise, a Louisiana Republican, said the United States’s “foreign policy has been a major liability” and that President Joe Biden is the greatest risk.
“The weakness he’s shown on the world stage his entire presidency has really given a signal to all of the bad guys around the world, whether it’s Putin — look at Xi, look at [how] they’re trying to negotiate with Iran right now to get a nuclear weapon and using Russia to help negotiate,” Scalise said. “People are looking at this, going, ‘America, basically, has stepped off for the world stage as a global leader.’”
The House minority whip told NewsMax’s Chris Salcedo that Vice President Kamala Harris has also proven ineffective.
“They can’t send Kamala anywhere. They sent her to Poland,” Scalise said. “I don’t know if she came to mop up the mess and made even more mess, but then they continue to try to walk back statements that he made as the president of the United States. Words have consequences.”

Scalise noted that “nobody knows” what Biden means when he speaks.
“Our allies around the world don’t even know what he means,” Scalise said. “Say what you mean, but stop saying what you won’t do either because it is also a sign of weakness when you take things off the table. Let your enemy wonder what you’re going to do. We sure saw that under President Trump.”
Scalise added that Biden’s gaffes are not just costing America’s position on the world stage.
“It’s costing our allies around the world,” Scalise said. “Europe is in a weaker place right now.”

The congressman also said Americans’ frustration with rising inflation has hurt their confidence in Biden. He noted that Republicans would introduce legislation to address rising costs, particularly those concerning gas prices.
