WikiLeaks: Clinton considered Eric Holder, Sanders for VP

Hillary Clinton’s campaign considered selecting Sen. Bernie Sanders or former Attorney General Eric Holder as the Democratic vice presidential nominee, among a number of other surprising names.

The list emerged in the a batch of emails published by WikiLeaks Tuesday. The emails were obtained illegally from the inbox of John Podesta, Clinton’s campaign chair.

In early March, Podesta emailed Clinton with a list of names organized into “food groups,” which appeared to be based largely on ethnicity and gender.

For example, Housing Secretary Julian Castro, Labor Secretary Tom Perez and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti were placed into one group, while Sens. Tammy Baldwin, Claire McKaskill and Elizabeth Warren were placed into another.

The list included both Bill Gates, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy.
