Md. group studying access to guns by mentally ill

BALTIMORE (AP) — A Maryland task force studying the ability of the mentally ill to obtain firearms is to meet for the first time.

The task force is studying whether current state law and policies need to be changed. The group is also looking into laws and policies concerning access by law enforcement officers to mental health records.

The task force established in June is scheduled to meet for the first time on Tuesday in Baltimore.
